These pug cookies are sure to bring a smile to your pup’s face! For this recipe, you will need:
1/2 cup unbleached flour
1/4 teaspoon baking powder
1/4 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/4 cup of vegetable oil
1/4 cup applesauce
1/4 cup honey
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
Preheat the oven to 350°F and prepare two baking sheets with parchment paper or silicone mats. In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and cinnamon. In a separate bowl, whisk together the vegetable oil, applesauce, honey, and vanilla. Gradually add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients, stirring until just combined. Drop the dough by the teaspoonful onto the prepared baking sheets and lightly flatten each cookie. Bake for 10-15 minutes, or until golden. Let the cookies cool completely before serving.
Original Dog Treat Icing
My original dog treat icing is the perfect finishing touch for your homemade pup treats. For this recipe, you will need:
1/2 cup honey
1/4 cup non-fat plain yogurt
2 tablespoons plain non-fat Greek yogurt
1/2 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
Food coloring, if desired
In a medium bowl, whisk together the honey, non-fat plain and Greek yogurts, and pure vanilla extract. If desired, you can also add a couple of drops of food coloring to the mixture. Spoon the icing into a large resealable bag and snip off the corner. Pipe the icing onto the cooled treats. Let them set for at least 30 minutes before serving.
